CUISPA Code of Ethics

The Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association is a membership organization and as such, undertakes efforts to inform, educate and support the enhancement of the membership through publications, conferences, meetings, or other organized events, either solely sponsored by CUISPA or jointly with other organizations. Because of the diversity of interests and businesses represented by the membership, this Code of Ethics is designed to serve as a guide for the personal and professional conduct of the Association and its members in order to avoid potential allegations of unethical conduct.

Responsibilities of Members
  1. Uphold the values, ethics, and mission of the IT security profession and this industry association;
  2. Conduct all personal and professional activities with honesty, integrity, respect, fairness and good faith;
  3. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which the member conducts professional and personal activities;
  4. Maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary or otherwise sensitive information encountered in the course of professional activities and participation in the CUISPA;
  5. Promote good information security practices through knowledge sharing;
  6. Be truthful in all forms of communications and avoid information that is false, misleading, inflammatory, and deceptive, or information that would create unreasonable expectations or interpretations;
  7. Respect professional confidences;
  8. Maintain competence and proficiency in the IT security profession by continuing professional education;
  9. Refrain from participating in any activity that demeans the credibility and dignity of any professional peer, member of the association or the association itself;
  10. Support the establishment of and compliance with appropriate standards, procedures, and controls for information system;
  11. Maintain compliance with the association's membership agreement, terms of use, and legal notices;


Ethics Committee
This Code of Ethics shall be administered by the Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee shall: - Review and evaluate annually, or as needed, the Code of Ethics, and make any necessary recommendations to the Board for updating the Code; - Review and recommend action to the Board on allegations brought forth regarding breaches of the Code of Ethics; - Prepare a report of observations, accomplishments, and recommended actions to the Board annually.

Violations of the Code of Ethicse
CUISPA is a national organization of credit union IT professionals. CUISPA, Inc. is an independent legal entity, a 501(c)(6) organization incorporated in the state of Texas and directed by elected officers that provide leadership for the association's mission, initiatives, and benefits. The direction of the association is determined by the consensus input of its members, affiliates, and advisory council. CUISPA represents the shared interest of its members. Our directives and initiatives are steered by the consensus of our member's input. As a member your input make a difference.

Vendor Participation
Any member of the association who has reasonable grounds to believe that another member has violated this Code of Ethics has a responsibility to communicate, such facts to the Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee is given broad powers to investigate allegations brought to their attention. Any member accused of violating the Code of Ethics will be entitled to an Ethics Appeal Process. The CUISPA Board of Directors reserves the right to revoke the membership of any Member found to intentionally or knowingly violate any of the provisions of the code.
